Friendly Blessings


Few of us have not been touched by cancer in some way. Cancer affects millions of women each year in the U.S. The diagnosis of cancer is frightening and tests even the strongest faith. It affects women from all walks of life and does not discriminate based on race, class, or creed. Women facing cancer have many questions, ranging from the physical, "What will the treatments do to my body?" to the deeply emotional, "Who can I turn to with my fears and anger?"

Our goal through this project is to show that even in times of trails, God loves us and is with us. We want to show God's love in a very practical way to women undergoing cancer treatment. We are providing a tote bag filled with practical and inspirational items to show God's love and our support.

Inside each "Faith" tote are various items from the practical to the inspirational. All tote recipients are prayed for by our prayer team and encouraged through correspondence and phone calls if desired.

Faith is believing in what we have not seen and believing that God is in the control of our lives. Jesus Christ said, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9 The apostle Paul wrote, "For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10b

Christ wants to strengthen our faith in times of weakness. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13. God can bring about unbelievable blessings during this time of weakness caused by cancer.

Who receives a Faith tote?

Any women currently undergoing treatment for cancer can receive a tote free of charge. Totes are distributed through the Women's Ministry of Friendship Baptist Church. To request a tote for a family member, friend, or yourself, call: (912) 489-4165

How can I give support?

This project requires a range of resources. The following are some of the ways you can be blessed and bless others through this ministry:

Time:This ministry is always in need of those can can cit fabric, monogram, sew, and distribute tote bags. We also need volunteers to increase public awareness of this ministry and help with fundraising.

Prayer"Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6. Prayer is powerful. Prayer teams meet regular to pray over the totes before distribution as well as undergoing treatment. Volunteers also prayer for our tote recipients and their prayer requests from home.
